Week 26 February 24th-28th

Monday February 24th We started our day by learning about the letter Ww and thought of a list of words that start with Ww.  During Religion, we read the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 and talked about the importance of prayer before eating our food. We finished our day with a praise assembly, where we celebrated and worshiped God. Tuesday February 25th We started our day by reviewing the letter Ww and detected words that start with the Ww sound.  For Religion, we watched an animated Bible story about our story from Monday. At the end of our day, we read a story about a lost dinosaur egg and who the egg belongs to.  Afterwards, students colored their very own dinosaur eggs.   Wednesday February 26th Today we practiced uppercase I and reviewed the letter sound.  For Religion, we watched a video that discussed the different parts of Holy Communion and talked about when a child receives first communion. Week 25 February 17th-23rd

  Thursday February 20th With the late start, our day was moved around to accommodate.  We started with our letter time and learned how to write the letter Gg. After lunch, we made a dinosaur craft for our classroom using bigger legos to stamp the paint onto the dinosaur on our paper. We later read a story called "How to Catch a Dinosaur", which is part of one of our favorite classroom series.   We ended our day by reading some of our Magic Treehouse book and had a dino dance party to finish. Friday February 21st We learned how to write the letter Nn today and practiced telling the difference between when it was written the correct way or not.   Due to not being in our classroom for naptime, students got to watch "The Good Dinosaur" and play with toys in the aftercare room instead of napping.  One of our goals over the next few months is to eliminate nap in our classroom as a whole since students are not allowed to nap in kindergarten.  We finishe...

Week 24 February 10th-14th

  Tuesday February 11th We started our week with a new heart word.  Students started by review heart words "the" and "see" before learning "my" and practicing writing it.  Throughout the rest of the week, students were pointing out when they would see a heart word and it is great to encourage it at home as well. For religion, we read a story about a little boy who chose to help his mother shovel the snow out of the driveway, even though he wanted to play his video game.  We then talked about some of the things we can do at home to help, even though we can't always help with more difficult chores. Thursday February 14th We reviewed our religion story from Tuesday at the start of our day.  We then made love coupons for our parents.  These coupons are a reminder to students that there are sometimes things we don't want to do but it is important that we still do them. Week 23 February 3rd-7th

  Monday February 3rd We started our week by continuing to practice counting syllables and breaking words into syllables.  We then practiced the letter Oo and the sound, as well as sounding out short words. During Religion, we read a story about a baby's baptism and talked about some of the things we already know about baptism as a sacrament. We finished the day by talking about groundhogs and how groundhogs day is celebrated. Tuesday February 4th Today was all about our 100th day of school.  We used paint dabbers to color the number 100 and practiced counting all the way to 100. We finished our day with a 100th day of school coloring page and read the story "100th Day Worries" as a class. Week 22 January 27th-31st

  Monday January 27th We started our week off with a prayer service in the big school.  Students got to sing and dance, while also praying and being thankful for the opportunity to talk about Jesus in our school! After the prayer service, students were invited to a glow in the dark dance party in the gym where we danced our hearts out. We returned to our classroom to learn about the letter Ll and then made our way to Miss Jay's room for a movie watch party.  Students were amazed that the movie was actually on the ceiling! We finished our day with our Catholic Schools Week service project.  Students partnered with an 8th grade buddy to help clean our school and make Valentine's day cards for a local nursing home!
