Week 23 February 3rd-7th
Monday February 3rd
We started our week by continuing to practice counting syllables and breaking words into syllables. We then practiced the letter Oo and the sound, as well as sounding out short words.
During Religion, we read a story about a baby's baptism and talked about some of the things we already know about baptism as a sacrament.
We finished the day by talking about groundhogs and how groundhogs day is celebrated.
Tuesday February 4th
Today was all about our 100th day of school. We used paint dabbers to color the number 100 and practiced counting all the way to 100.
We finished our day with a 100th day of school coloring page and read the story "100th Day Worries" as a class.
Wednesday February 5th
We continued on our letters with the letter Dd and practiced writing uppercase D.
During religion, we watched a video about baptism that discussed the key features of a baptism. Students were so excited to see the baptismal gown that I wore as a baby.
We finished our day with a Valentine's day craft. Students got to pick two paint colors to use for their art. Students then smooshed the paper together to cover the heart in paint.
Thursday February 6th
We continued on the letter Dd and practiced writing a lowercase d. We also talked about how important it is to make sure we write the correct letter the correct way by mixing up Bb and Dd and reading the different words in sentences.
During religion, we talked about things that priest might wear in the church.
At the end of the day, we finished reading Mummies in the Morning from the Magic Treehouse series and Started Pirates Past Noon.
Friday February 7th
For P.E. today, students were split into 5 groups (4 quarters and half time) to participate in team warmups, cornhole, bean bag toss, ping pong throws and a halftime performance.
Instead of nap, students got to watch "Airbud: Golden Receiver" to celebrate the Superbowl.
We finished the day with the Valentine edition of our My Big World magazine.
