Week 3- August 25th-29th

 Monday August 25th

Today we started talking about the letter Bb.  Students worked to find the letter Bb in songs and think of words that started with the letter Bb.  We then read a story from our religion curriculum about Jesus and his special friends, the Apostles, who were fishermen who chose to follow Jesus.  We talked about ovals and how they are squashed circles or "flat tires" as the kids said.  We finished our day with centers while students showed off their name writing skills.

Tuesday August 26th

We continued to talk about the letter Bb today and made a giant list of words on our smartboard.  Students also worked to complete a paper where they identified the letter Bb.  During religion, we read about Nina and how she greeted a new student at her school and became friends with them as we welcomed a new friend into our classroom.  We also practiced tracing ovals and writing our names.  During recess, the students participated in an amazing dance party!

Wednesday August 27th

We started our morning off with a "birthday boogie" and some birthday treats for Charlie's birthday!

Later in the morning, we had our first ever tornado drill and our class did amazing!  They were great role models for younger students during this time!  After the drill, students got to practice writing the letter Bb on our smartboard.

We continued our friendship theme with some water colors to help create a "friendship banner" in our classroom.

We finished our day by playing with friends in centers!

Thursday August 28th

Today we brought our biggest and best smiles for picture day!  After taking our pictures, we read the story "You Can Be A Good Friend" by Taraji P. Henson and discussed all of the ways that we can be good friends to those in our classroom, school, and community.  Students also got to use their scissor skills to cut and sort Aa and Bb and glue them to their paper.

We also got to enjoy some extra sunlight with an extra recess!

Friday August 29th

We started the day with P.E. and practiced our patience with a game of duck duck goose.  Afterwards, we played a game of follow the leader and practiced walking on the lines in our parking lot.

Because it was fun Friday and students had an amazing week, we completed our morning meeting and got to spend some extra time on our playground.  Later in the day, we celebrated Mrs. Nikki's birthday with ice cream and cookies!  To finish our day, we had our first ever praise assembly of the year.  Congrats Sam, for winning this month's character award.
