Week 33 April 22nd-25th

Wednesday April 23rd We started our day with a letter writing assessment where students worked very hard to show how much their writing has improved since the start of the school year. We then went on to learn about dandelions and how they turn from yellow flowers into puffballs and spread seeds everywhere.  We also talked about which animals eat dandelions and how people sometimes eat them in salads. Thursday April 24th Today we learned about Daniel and the Lion's Den with the help of our children's Bible and Veggietales.  Students learned how we should never be afraid because God is always with us. Instead of nap today, we took our annual walking field trip to YoYum's downtown.  Students had a blast looking into the windows of local shops and eating some frozen yogurt.  We even stopped to play in the Capital Lawn on our way back. To finish our day, we completed our 6th Magic Treehouse book so students could rest their bodies after going for such a long walk. Friday...

Week 32 April 14th-16th

  Monday April 14th We started our week off with Gardening and Granola with Grandparents! Students had so much fun planting with their grandparents and we are so thankful for all of those who were able to come. We continued our day by figuring out which words had a u and which words had an i in the middle.  We finished our day with an episode of Nature Cat while working on a special craft. Tuesday April 15th Our day started by reading the story of Jesus' Resurrection and discussed how we don't have to see things to believe, just as the disciples believed before seeing Christ resurrected. We finished our day with some cooperative learning time where students were tasked with sharing toys and working together to build. Wednesday April 16th We started the day off with all school Mass with our 7th grade buddies.  After Mass, we came back to our classroom to eat snack and have some center time. Week 31 April 7th-11th

  Monday April 7th We started our day by having an alphabet party since we successfully completed writing all of the letters.   We also spent our morning sharing our baby photos with each other and trying to guess who's pictures were which. At recess, we had bubbles for students to use and spent the rest of our afternoon playing in our centers. Tuesday April 8th We started the day with a cowboy counting video that students were able to dance along to. Then we read about the story of Easter and discussed how we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead on Easter Sunday.  Students then watched an animated version in the classroom. We finished our day by skipping nap and watching Toy Story to celebrate our amazing western wear. Week 30 March 31st-April 4th

  Monday March 31st We started our day by experiencing stations of the cross with Miss Massman's 2nd grade class.  Students got to see the process behind stations, while also being in the church. We then went on to learn about the letter Xx and practiced its tricky sound.   To finish off our day, we read about trash trucks in our My Big World magazine. Tuesday April 1st We started our day by learning about the letter U and practiced writing the uppercase letter.  We then read a story in religion about a classroom that used instruments to praise God and celebrate being friends of Jesus. We finished our day by using watercolors to paint the background for our egg craft this week. Wednesday April 2nd We started the day with Mass with our 7th grade buddies and then came back to class to learn how to write lowercase u.
