Week 20- January 12th-16th

  

Monday January 12th

We started our week by learning about the letter Rr.  We then started talking about hibernation.  Students listened to the story, "Harold Hates to Hibernate" and read through our "My Big World: A Long Winter's Nap" magazine.  Students also practice our song for the praise assembly.


Tuesday January 13th
Students got to have a stuffy day today and have their stuffies help them learn throughout the day.  We reviewed what we had read yesterday by completing our "Look What I Learned" worksheet about hibernation.






Wednesday January 14th

We started our day by learning how to write the letter Rr and continued to practice the letter sound.  Students also used their listening skills to follow a directed drawing of a sleeping bear.








Thursday January 15th

Today, students solidified their knowledge of hibernation by watching "The Magic School Bus Gets Cold Feet" and asking questions about why certain animals sleep for such a long time.

Friday January 16th

We started the day with more red light, green light in P.E.  Students had to listen to the volume of the music to know whether they should walk, run, or stop.  





We also were able to meet up with 4th grade for practice in the gym for the praise assembly.

 Next week's topics

When we return, we will be talking about Snow and Snowmen as our theme.  We will also be talking about the letter Ss and the number 10.  We will additionally be introducing our new Heggerty curriculum.

Important Reminders

  • Please make sure to sign your child in and out on the iPad daily.  If you forget your barcode, there is a binder ring with all of your barcodes in the back of your child's cubby.
  • Please make sure to help your child pick their lunch daily.  Second choice alternates daily.  On MWF, we have sunbutter and jelly.  On T/Th, we have ham or turkey and cheese.
  • Please check student's folder daily.  Often, items from the office are sent home with the youngest student.

  Monday August 25th Today we started talking about the letter Bb.  Students worked to find the letter Bb in songs and think of words that started with the letter Bb.  We then read a story from our religion curriculum about Jesus and his special friends, the Apostles, who were fishermen who chose to follow Jesus.  We talked about ovals and how they are squashed circles or "flat tires" as the kids said.  We finished our day with centers while students showed off their name writing skills. Week 2- August 18th-22nd

  Monday August 16th We started our week by continuing our daily morning meeting.  Afterwards, we moved to learning about the letter Aa and talked about the sound and what it looks like.  We also talked this morning about our calm spot and read a story about how to calm ourselves when we have big emotions.  Students also listened to a song to remind them how to calm down using stretches and breathing. After lunch, we talked about circles and how they have no sides and go around and round.  Students have also been working one on one with me to start our alphabet assessments to gauge where students are to start the year. Welcome!

  Hello preschool families!  I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! My name is Miss Harley Hagenhoff and this is my second year teaching!  I graduated from Missouri Valley College in December of 2023 with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education.  Before that, I graduated from Helias Catholic High School in May of 2020.  I am the oldest of 7 kids and have two fur babies, Dakota and Elsa.  If I am not in the classroom, I am typically finding some sort of craft to do or playing with my puppies!
