Week 19- January 5th-9th

Monday January 5th

We started off our day by celebrating Maria's birthday.


Students also started learning about the letter Qq.  We then watched "The Magic School Bus In the Artic" and talked about how certain animals use their bodies to stay warm and how they can use their coloring to stay safe.

Tuesday January 6th

Students listened to the story of the magi finding baby Jesus today and discussed the gifts they had brought.  Students also continued to learn about the letter Qq.

Wednesday January 7th

Students started the day by practicing writing the letter Qq on the tables with dry erase markers.  Students also worked on their fine motor skills by making torn paper snowflakes.

Thursday January 8th

Students started the day by talking about more/less by comparing which number was bigger on our new class prize vote.  We then read the story "A Polar Bear in the Snow" and our "My Big World: Hey There Little Bear" magazine to learn about the different things a bear cub does throughout the day.

Friday January 9th

We started our day with P.E.  Students got to play a game of "Red Light, Green Light" while working on walking versus running during the game.  Students also worked on listening to hear the different colors.





Students also practiced writing their first and last names on paper.

    Next week's topics

When we return, we will be talking about Hibernation as our theme.  We will also be talking about the letter Rr and the number 8 and 9.  We will additionally be introducing our new Heggerty curriculum.

Important Reminders

  • Please make sure to sign your child in and out on the iPad daily.  If you forget your barcode, there is a binder ring with all of your barcodes in the back of your child's cubby.
  • Please make sure to help your child pick their lunch daily.  Second choice alternates daily.  On MWF, we have sunbutter and jelly.  On T/Th, we have ham or turkey and cheese.
  • Please check student's folder daily.  Often, items from the office are sent home with the youngest student.

  • 1/13-  1:30 dismissal (no aftercare)
  • 1/13- Stuffy party earned- your child may bring one small stuffy to school for the day.
  • 1/13- Kindergarten open house 6-7
  • 1/19- No School
  • 1/21- Mass (please arrive before 7:50 so we can meet our 8th grade buddies)
  • 1/23- Praise assembly at 2
  • 1/26-1/30- Catholic Schools Week
  • 1/30- 1:30 dismissal (no aftercare)

  Monday August 25th Today we started talking about the letter Bb.  Students worked to find the letter Bb in songs and think of words that started with the letter Bb.  We then read a story from our religion curriculum about Jesus and his special friends, the Apostles, who were fishermen who chose to follow Jesus.  We talked about ovals and how they are squashed circles or "flat tires" as the kids said.  We finished our day with centers while students showed off their name writing skills. Week 2- August 18th-22nd

  Monday August 16th We started our week by continuing our daily morning meeting.  Afterwards, we moved to learning about the letter Aa and talked about the sound and what it looks like.  We also talked this morning about our calm spot and read a story about how to calm ourselves when we have big emotions.  Students also listened to a song to remind them how to calm down using stretches and breathing. After lunch, we talked about circles and how they have no sides and go around and round.  Students have also been working one on one with me to start our alphabet assessments to gauge where students are to start the year. Welcome!

  Hello preschool families!  I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! My name is Miss Harley Hagenhoff and this is my second year teaching!  I graduated from Missouri Valley College in December of 2023 with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education.  Before that, I graduated from Helias Catholic High School in May of 2020.  I am the oldest of 7 kids and have two fur babies, Dakota and Elsa.  If I am not in the classroom, I am typically finding some sort of craft to do or playing with my puppies!
