Week 14- November 10th-14th

Monday November 10th

We started our day by learning about the letter Mm and watched Olive and Rhyme to learn more about the letter.  Students then began making handprint turkeys for to give to parents for Thanksgiving.

We went on to learn about the color pink and colored our letter Mm coloring sheet.

Tuesday November 11th

This morning, we attend the Veteran's day assembly.  Students did an amazing job of being respectful and honoring our veteran's.

We came back to our classroom afterwards and colored pictures to send to some of Miss Jay and Mrs. Nikki's family who are currently deployed.

For our early out movie day, students got to watch Ratatouille to get in the mood for a Thanksgiving feast.

Wednesday November 12th

We started our day by making a list of all of the words that started with Mm that we could think of.  Students then got to "turkify" their hands and draw on all of the features to make their handprints look like turkeys.  

To end our day, we partnered with 8th grade to make kindness handprints to display on the office windows for world kindness day.









Thursday November 13th

Today, we practiced how to write the letter Mm on our tables with dry erase markers.  Students also worked on writing their names.  We also watched a video that told us the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 and talked about our food drive for Catholic Charities next week.

We ended our day with a preview of this year's musical "High School Musical Jr." and some chalk time out in the alley.


Friday November 14th

We started our day with Fun Friday Free Play in Miss Jay's room since we couldn't use the gym this morning.  Afterwards, we read "How to Catch a Turkey" in our classroom.  

We ended our day with some center time in our classroom to work on social/emotional learning.

 Next week's topics

Next week, we will be talking all about Thanksgiving as our theme.  We will also be talking about the letter Nn and starting on numbers 0 and 1.

Important Reminders

  • Please make sure to sign your child in and out on the iPad daily.  If you forget your barcode, there is a binder ring with all of your barcodes in the back of your child's cubby.
  • Please make sure to help your child pick their lunch daily.  Second choice alternates daily.  On MWF, we have sunbutter and jelly.  On T/Th, we have ham or turkey and cheese.
  • Please check student's folder daily.  Often, items from the office are sent home with the youngest student.

  Monday August 25th Today we started talking about the letter Bb.  Students worked to find the letter Bb in songs and think of words that started with the letter Bb.  We then read a story from our religion curriculum about Jesus and his special friends, the Apostles, who were fishermen who chose to follow Jesus.  We talked about ovals and how they are squashed circles or "flat tires" as the kids said.  We finished our day with centers while students showed off their name writing skills.   Hello preschool families!  I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! My name is Miss Harley Hagenhoff and this is my second year teaching!  I graduated from Missouri Valley College in December of 2023 with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education.  Before that, I graduated from Helias Catholic High School in May of 2020.  I am the oldest of 7 kids and have two fur babies, Dakota and Elsa.  If I am not in the classroom, I am typically finding some sort of craft to do or playing with my puppies! Week 2- August 18th-22nd

  Monday August 16th We started our week by continuing our daily morning meeting.  Afterwards, we moved to learning about the letter Aa and talked about the sound and what it looks like.  We also talked this morning about our calm spot and read a story about how to calm ourselves when we have big emotions.  Students also listened to a song to remind them how to calm down using stretches and breathing. After lunch, we talked about circles and how they have no sides and go around and round.  Students have also been working one on one with me to start our alphabet assessments to gauge where students are to start the year.
