Week 9- October 6th-10th

 Monday October 6th

On Monday, we started our fire safety week by reading "What's That Sound", which was the fire safety edition of our My Big World magazine.  Students reviewed the process for what to do during a fire both at home and at school.

We also talked about the letter Hh and practiced how to tell if a word starts with Hh by feeling for a hot breath on our hand when we first say a word.

We also talked about the heart shape this week.

Tuesday October 7th

We started off our morning by making a list of all of the Hh words we could think of and discussed how we use an uppercase H in names and holidays.

We then practiced our pattern skills by making fire safety patterns and cutting and gluing the pictures in the correct location on our paper.

After nap, we made thank you cards for our special guest speaker later in the day.

After making our cards, we joined our 8th grade buddies for a nature walk and popsicles to give them a break from testing!  Students worked with their buddies to find different colored items or to find different nature objects.

To end our day, we had Taylor Zumwalt come in and talk to us about fire safety.  He showed students all of the gear, went over the steps for what to do if there is a fire in your home, and even let students try to pick up the air tank! Thank you Taylor for coming in to talk to our preschool classes!

Wednesday October 8th

I was gone this day for training and due to a few miscommunications, students got to spend the day split between Miss Jay and Mrs. Nikki's classroom.  I am very thankful to both of them for covering while I was gone and for making sure my students had an amazing day.  They spent the day learning to be leaders for the younger students.

Thursday October 9th

Today, we practiced writing the letter Hh and talked about how words can look wrong if we don't write our words correctly.

We did a recap of fire safety and answered any questions that students may have had  about fire safety.

To finish our day, we continued to practice the letter Hh by completing a handwriting worksheet.

Friday October 10th

We started the day with a new game in P.E.  We started by discussing the difference between tossing and throwing and how to step and toss.  Afterwards, students formed a circle in the middle of the gym and practiced tossing their bean bags into the half court circle on the floor.  Afterwards, they had to run to the center and collect three bean bags that matched their color.

Towards the end of the day, students practiced what to do in the instance of a lockdown.  We discussed how sometimes unsafe people may come near our school and how the teachers will always keep the students safe.  Students did an absolutely amazing job and got some marshmallows as a special treat!  Afterwards, we turned our classroom into the ultimate dance spot!  All 50 preschoolers enjoyed they amazing DJ skills of Miss Jay and danced their little hearts out!

Next week, we will be talking all about Pumpkins as our theme.  We will also be talking about the letter Ii and stars.
