Week 11- October 20th-23rd

 Monday October 20th

This week we started talking about the letter Jj and practiced the sound.  Students identified pictures that started with the letter Jj and the /j/ sound.

We also discussed nocturnal animals and how they only come out at night because of various reasons, such as, camouflage, more food, less predators and more!  Students came up with a ton of animals that only come out at night and came up with reasons for why each slept during the day.

After lunch, we had our first preschool rehearsal for our praise assembly performance.  Students have been working hard on singing loud and not just screaming.

We finished the day with free play centers where students worked on their social and emotional skills.

Tuesday October 21st

On Tuesday, we continued talking about the letter Jj and thought of words that start with the letter Jj.  Afterwards, we continued our discussion about nocturnal animals and made our very own handprint bats that are flying around our back classroom.  We also discussed how bats eat bugs as their food.

We did a review of shapes in our class as well by sorting and coloring different shaped pumpkins.  Students worked hard to figure out which colors matched each shape.

Wednesday October 22nd

We started the day by practicing writing the letter Jj and discussed how a lowercase j looks like a fish hook going into water.

Miss Massman's 2nd grade class invited us into their room for a presentation on habitats, which they have been discussing during science.  Each group discussed a different habitat and the plants and animals that grow there. Students learned so much information and asked so many important questions!

After nap, we continued our Jj writing practice.

Thursday October 23rd

We started our day by talking about the letter Jj and taking a sneak peak at next weeks letter Kk.

Afterwards, we practiced our counting and number writing skills by counting nocturnal animals and writing the corresponding numbers in the box.

In true early out fashion, we got to skip nap and watch a movie! Students chose a Halloween movie so we watched "The Nightmare Before Christmas".
