Week 7- September 22nd-26th

  Monday September 22nd We started off our week by talking about the letter Ff.  Students learned the letter sound and that you can feel your breath when you are saying the sound.  We also started practicing some phonics skills by doing some sentence repetition.  After working on our letters, we colored the pieces for our scarecrow craft and stamped our handprints. During morning recess, students discovered a frog handing out on the playground. We then continued our day by talking about the shape rhombus and how it looks like a diamond.  The students noticed the shape has 4 equal sides and looks like a square falling over. Tuesday September 23rd Today we continued to talk about the letter Ff and made a  list off all of the words that started with the /f/ sound.  Students then got the chance to sign cards for our church priests to make them feel loved for Priesthood Sunday. Week 6- September 16th-19th

  Tuesday September 16th We started our week off by learning about the letter Ee.  Students practiced making the Ee sound and identifying words that start with the letter.  We then went on to talk about Mass and how it is a very special time for us to talk to God and pray, while also covering Mass expectations.   After lunch, students learned all about rectangles and then discussed the difference between a square and a rectangle. After recess, all of the preschool students reviewed rules for being in the church.  We also went over what to do if there is an emergency situation while we are in church with our big kid buddies. Wednesday September 17th We started off our morning with Mass. Students did an absolutely amazing job by listening to their buddies and staying attentive, even during our fire drill!  After Mass, we got to celebrate Harper's birthday! Week 5- September 8th-12th

  Monday September 8th We started off our week by talking about the letter Dd and identified words that start with Dd.  We then read the Scholastic's My Big World magazine about apples, where students heard a description of a fruit and had to decide if it was an apple or not.   After recess and lunch, we talked all about squares and how they have 4 points and 4 equal sides.  During center time, some students worked in a small group to work on their letter writing assessments. Tuesday September 9th Today we celebrated Karley's birthday with our famous Birthday Boogie! We also continued to talk about the letter Dd and made a huge list of words.  Students then expanded on what we learned in our magazine on Monday and completed an apple themed worksheet. One of our goals by the end of the school year is to eliminate nap time completely from our schedule.  In order to do this, we start by eliminating nap on early dismissal days and instead watch a movie....
