Week 36 May 12th-15th
Monday May 12th
Today, we started with a fun way to practice our letter writing. Students got to write on the table with shaving cream. Afterwards, we took a tour of the big school and talked about where some of their new classrooms are for next year. They got to see the art and music rooms, gym, and library as we discussed what classes they might get to be in next year.
To finish our day, Miss Jay invited us to play "the island game", where students had to guess what the items they could bring to the themed island.
Tuesday May 13th
Today we enjoyed playing in our centers one last time before the end of the year. Students also got the chance to color some giant coloring sheets that were donated.
We finished our day with the movie "Madagascar" and had popcorn and juice to celebrate our last early out day!
Wednesday May 14th
Our morning started with a mysterious phone call from Miss Jay asking if we could meet her on the playground. When we arrived, she and Miss Kaia surprised us with confetti party poppers to celebrate the end of our school year.
We finished our day with our last praise assembly where students sang and danced as a class for one last time.
Thursday May 15th
The last day of school!!! We started summer blast off on the big flat with bounce houses, a dunk tank, and some board breaking.
Students also enjoyed sno cones!
We then moved to the playground for water play, a giant chalk obstacle course (thank you Miss Jay and Miss Paige for staying late to do this), and bubbles. Our class was very excited to play on the bigger play equipment as an accomplishment for making it to Kindergarten!
We finished our day with some face paint, movie watching and an epic dance party in the alleyway to celebrate this year!
I want to thank all of the students for making my first year truly memorable. I feel honored to prepare each and every one of these students for Kindergarten and can not wait to watch them grow and flourish next year.
I want to thank the parents, firstly for your support for both me and your students throughout this year. If it weren't for you, getting students ready for kindergarten wouldn't have been as easy. I also want to thank the parents for their understanding throughout the year. As a first year teacher, this year was about figuring things out and figuring out how classroom procedures work for me and that wouldn't have been possible without your help and understanding.
Also a thank you to my amazing preschool squad for inviting me to their crazy parties and for helping guide me through this first year. You played a huge role in my survival this year and I greatly appreciate it.
