Week 35 May 5th-9th
Monday May 5th
We started our morning by talking about rhyming words again and students practiced their scissor skills to complete a rhyming match worksheet.
After lunch, we watched an episode of Wild Kratts to prepare for our reptile presentation. We then went to our Reptile Rap presentation put on by Wildheart. Students got to learn about reptiles, sing songs, and get an up close look at a snake.
Tuesday May 6th
We started our morning with an extra special science experiment for Ss day. Miss Samantha, who taught preschool in our room last year, taught the kids all about slime making! Students learned the fancy words that make slime turn into slime and made their very own slime to take home.
After lunch, we worked on matching letters. Students had to find and color the lowercase letter that matched the uppercase on the sea animals.
Wednesday May 7th
We started by reviewing previously learned sight word "to" and completing a worksheet that challenged them to use writing and scissor skills.
After lunch, students chose their own tie dye pattern and use rubber bands to complete those designs. Students then got the chance to tie dye their bandanas with Miss Paige.
After tie dying, students made Mother's Day cards for their moms. We finished the day with a talk about our teddy bears and how they are special to us.
Thursday May 8th
We started our day by surprising Miss Jeanne in the Vogelwied Center for her birthday. Students sang Happy Birthday and bombarded her with balloons.
Students then got the opportunity to decorate a sign for us to display during the 8th grade "Parade of Saints".
After lunch, we took a virtual field trip to a zoo and watched live zoo cameras to see what types of animals we might see if we were to go to the zoo. To end our day, we talked about how cool kids stay safe on hot days with the help of our Scholastic magazine.
Friday May 9th
We started by spending our last P.E. class of the year on the playground with an huge chalk maze for the students to race through.
Afterwards, we cheered on the 8th graders as they made their way to the church for their promotion.
We watched the movie Zootopia for Vv for video day. To end our day, we joined Miss Jay and Nikki's friend on the yard for a special surprise. A student's parent brought their baby sheep to school and the students had a blast.
