Week 20 January 13th-17th
Thursday, January 9th
The lone day!
I wanted to include our one day last week into the blog so you know what we did at school!
We read our "My Big World" by Scholastic that was all about snow. This led to a conversation about what happens if snow gets warm and a great writing activity. Students created their own melted snowman and had to come up with an idea for why their snowman melted. Students then traced the marker that Miss Paige or I wrote. The writing, as well as the melted snowmen, are displayed in the classroom on a cork board.
Tuesday, January 14th
We started our day with the letter Ff and practiced writing an uppercase F.
We then talked about the Epiphany and how it is a special time to honor Jesus and is when the wisemen officially made it to Jesus after he was born.
Wednesday, January 15th
We continued to talk about the letter Ff and practiced writing a lowercase f. Students also got to try their hand at sounding out and writing words by writing on our tables with dry erase markers.
During Religion, we read the story of the Magi coming to Jesus and bringing him gifts.
To end our day, we did a directed drawing of a snowman. Students were led through the drawing step by step as I drew on the board and made their own snowman.
Thursday, January 9th
We talked about the letter Bb and practiced how to make and uppercase B. We also discussed when we would use the uppercase B versus the lowercase.
During Religion, we watched a video that talked about how honor is our superpower and we can use it everyday!
We finished our day with number bingo on the smartboard.
Friday, January 10th
We started with our Friday P.E. class and practiced throwing and counting with a game of "clean your room", which is very similar to dodgeball.
Please make sure your child has a coat daily as we do have to walk to the big school daily for meals. Additionally make sure your child has weather appropriate extra clothes in their cubby.
Mass is on January 22 for our class so please have your child to school before 7:45.
Catholic Schools Week is the 27th-31st. We have an early dismissal on the 31st. More information regarding dress down days and daily activities will be out this next week.
