Week 19 December 16th-18th
Monday December 16th
We started our day by enjoying some hot chocolate and sugar cookies from our amazing cafeteria staff.
Afterwards, we practiced a new skill during letter time that branches us more towards reading. We practiced stretching, blending, and identifying letter sounds. I would say simple CVC words and students would help me stretch the words to hear the letter sounds. We also did this process backwards, where I gave students letters and we worked to blend the sounds.
During Religion, we talked about the birth of Jesus and read about a school doing a Nativity play, similar to the one we do at St. Peter.
Tuesday December 17th
We started the day by coloring ornaments that Mrs. Kristen brought in for us. Students enjoyed getting to color their ornaments and sing along to all sorts of Christmas songs.
During letter time, we learned our very first heart word. Heart words are words we need to know by heart because part of the word makes a sound it normally wouldn't make. Students learned "the" and we practiced how to spell it and also how to write the word.
After nap, we had a very special visitor. Most students were scared until they realized it was Mr. Veit behind the mask but a few wanted to go nowhere close.
Wednesday December 18th
Students were so excited to walk into our room and see the paper on the table for them to color. Afterwards, we had our Christmas party where we played all sorts of fun games.
Students enjoyed getting to play all the games, as well as see all of the parents who helped.
Another special visitor arrived before recess to deliver a package to Miss Paige and myself. A few students were still a little scared of our visitor, even though he didn't have a mask.
During lunch, students enjoyed some Little Caesar's pizza and were all smiles.
We finished our day by opening presents from our parents and watching the Polar Express in our PJs.
