Week 13 November 4th-8th
Monday November 4th
We started our week with learning about the letter Uu and discussed how it can make both the short and long sound. We also continued to review determining whether two words rhyme or not.
During religion, we started talking about saints and watched a short video to remind ourselves what a saint is.
We started practicing our songs for our Christmas caroling this week.
At the end of the day, we read the story "Turkey Trouble" and talked about our turkey disguise projects that were being sent home with students.
Tuesday November 5th
We reviewed the letter Uu and continued to practice determining whether or not words rhyme.
We then talked about St. Peter during religion and discussed how Peter always kept Jesus in his heart.
At the end of our day, we colored cornucopias to display on the office window.
Wednesday November 6th
Today we started going over the letter Vv and made a list of words that start with that letter.
During religion, we learned about St. Maria Goretti, the child saint. Students learned that we don't have to be all grown up to become a saint.
We finished our day by reading the Scholastic magazine, "My Big World", where students learned about leaves. Students learned the vocabulary word "evergreen" and were tasked with trying to find evergreen trees on their ride home. We also talked about what different types of leaves fall from different trees.
Thursday November 7th
We continued to talk about the letter Vv and how v looks different from u. We also continued talking about rhyming words.
We finished up with learning about saints with St. Philomena, another child saint, so that students can relate a little bit more to saints.
We finished our day with an art project. Students were given a paper with a wax outline of a leaf. Students then used watercolors to paint their leaves.
Friday November 8th
We started our day with Fun Friday P.E. class. Students got to play a new game where they had to work as a team to beat the other four teams.
After P.E. we colored pictures for the Vocations day coloring contest. Students worked hard to get their pictures done.
The Veteran's day assembly is on Monday the 11th. Please send students in red, white, and blue clothing.
The 12th is an early dismissal day. Students will be released at 1:15 and must be picked up by 1:35 at the latest.
Turkeys are due back to school on the 15th in order to be displayed in the hallway. Please make sure to write your child's name on the turkey so we know whose is whose.
Wednesday the 20th will be our mass day so students need to be at school by 7:50.
