Week 12 Oct. 29th-Nov. 1st
Tuesday October 29th
We started our day off with a little bit of sound detection. Students had to help me pick out the sounds that each Halloween word started with and color in the words that started with a particular letter.
During Religion, we read a story about All Saints' Day and talked about a parade of saints. We also took the time as a class to discuss what a saint is and how they are special friends in heaven who help us to communicate with God.
We finished our day off with some ice cream for snack on the playground and soaked up the nice weather.
Wednesday October 30th
We went back to rhyming words today during our alphabet and phonics time. Students were given two pictures and had to determine if they were rhyming or not rhyming. This was the first time that students worked in a more individualized way by coloring the answers on their papers before we discussed the answers in class.
During Religion, we continued to discuss All Saints' Day. We watched a video by Superbook to help us better understand what this special day is all about.
During our whole group at the end of the day, students got to try a new game on the smartboard. The board had 6 windows displayed and students had to click on the windows to match the number of objects with the written number. After the 6 windows were matched, students were given 6 more with higher value numbers.
Thursday October 31st
Today was party day!
We started our morning by decorating our bags for trick or treating and ate some yummy breakfast to fuel our day. The students then went through haunted hallways of Vogelweid and proceeded to parade around the school to show off their costumes.
After the parade, students changed out of their costumes so we could start the real party. (This was a big fail on my part as I forgot to get a picture of the whole class in their costumes)
During our party, students saved trapped spiders from their webs, built towers made of ghosts, put spiders onto their webs and practiced throwing ghosts across the room.
