Week 9- Oct. 7th-11th

 Monday October 7th

For phonics and handwriting, we reviewed how to make a slant and how to put the two together to make an X. We also started talking about the letter Oo and what sound it makes.  

During Religion, we read "Ducks and Flowers" from Stories of God's Love.  This story is about a little girl who is visiting the park with her parents.  She tries to take care of nature but finds that some things we think are helpful are actually harmful.  We also talked about why those things could be harmful even though they seem super helpful.

Tuesday October 8th

During phonics and handwriting, we reviewed how to make an X and used paint dabbers to trace the shape on paper.  We also continued to work on the letter Oo.

For religion class, we discussed ways to take care of God's creations and how we can take care of ourselves, as God's special creation. 


Wednesday October 9th

We practiced making X on the whiteboard.






We also started discuss the letter Pp and its sound.  

During religion, we talked about how taking care of God's creations can make us feel good about ourselves.  We also played a fill in the blank game about our story. 

At the end of the day, we read through My Big World by Scholastic.  This is a magazine that is given by Scholastic and has a new topic every 2 weeks.  This one was all about fire safety.


Thursday October 10th

We started by reviewing the X buddy and and continued our letter Pp word list.

During religion, we reviewed all of the things that we can do to take care of ourselves.


Friday October 11th

We started with P.E. on the Capital lawn and students did such a great job of staying safe when crossing the street. 






We also watched the Veggies Tales "God Made Me Special".

During recess, students found a giant grasshopper on the playground.

We finished our day with a virtual tour of a fire station and discussed the different parts of a fire truck.









Kindergarten open house is no longer being held on October 14th. It is now being held January 14th.

  Where do i even begin?  I want to thank all of the parents for helping your child be successful in this first "week" of school!  I am so proud of all of my students for how quickly they have adapted to this next adventure!  I will post on our classroom website once a week (I will try to have the weekly post up by Saturday evenings).  I will also try to do a better job of taking pictures during activities so that you as parents can have a better look into our classroom. Week 2- Aug 19th-23rd

  Monday August 19th Monday we started talking about all of our curriculum work.  We introduced Larry the letter lion to help us reviewing and introducing our handwriting buddies.  We talked all about Stanley stick and how he starts at the top and goes straight down to the bottom.  We also talked about the letter A and made a list of words that all start with the a sound. During religion class, we talked about the Bible and what it is made up of.  We then talked about Jesus and who he is and what his mission on Earth was (spreading God's love).  The students met our classroom stuffed Jesus and got to see where to find him in our classroom.   After recess, we had a popsicle party to celebrate a friend in Miss Nikki's class who had a birthday, as well as his sister in our class.  We then started in on our emotion lesson by reading "A Little Scribble Spot" and talking about what colors match each emotion.  We then finished our day with our ...

  Hello preschool families!  I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! My name is Miss Harley Hagenhoff and this is my first year teaching!  I recently graduated from Missouri Valley College in December of 2023 with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education.  Before that, I graduated from Helias Catholic High School in May of 2020.  I am the oldest of 7 kids and have two fur babies, Dakota and Elsa.  If I am not in the classroom, I am typically finding some sort of craft to do or playing with my puppies!
