Week 7- Sep. 23rd-27th
Firstly, I apologize for not capturing a ton of pictures this week. As I sat down to write this weeks post, I realized that I had only take a few pictures.
Monday September 23rd
To start our week, we discussed the first half of the Selma slant sisters. We discussed how this week we will be making slants that start at the bottom and climb up and to the right. We also started talking about the letter Kk.
During religion, we read the story "Ming's Furry Puppy". The story talks about the excitement from getting a new puppy but also how we have responsibilities that come along with it. During the story, Ming gets sick and is worried about who will take care of the puppy until his brother steps in to help. This story led to a discussion about how we can help others around us.
At the end of our day, students practiced some motor skills but making marble painted apple pictures, where they rolled the marble back and forth across paint and paper.
Tuesday September 24th
We started our day with our magic writing fingers and practiced how to make a slant in the air. We then wrapped up our discussion about the letter Kk.
During religion, we practiced our story recall skills and made cards to send to the nursing home for people who may not be able to attend mass.
At the end of the day, students finished their marble painted apple pictures and played with table toys.
Wednesday September 25th
Students got to practice making their climbing slants on the whiteboard and we talked about the differences between a slant, stick, and line.
We also started talking about the letter Ll and came up with words that started with Ll.
During religion, we talked about different ways that we can be helpful and kind at school or at home. Students were given the challenge to try and do something kind at home for parents or siblings that night.
At the end of the day, we watched a video that explained the life cycle/growth process of an apple. After that, we watched a video that gave us a tour and walked us through all of the different processes in a fruit factory.
Thursday September 26th
First thing this morning, we enjoyed the beautiful day with some chalk art on the big flat.
We started our morning by once again talking about how to make a slant. We then talked all about the letter Ll and finish adding words to our class list.
During religion, we discussed how we could be helpful and kind through prayer, sharing, smiling, and cleaning up. Students also shared what they had done to help at home, per their challenge from the day before.
Students received an extra recess from Dr. Trachsel so they were excited to get to skip their after nap table work.
At the end of the day, we celebrated Johnny Appleseed day by reading the book and completing a coloring page.
Friday September 27th
Today we started our day with PE, where we practiced our balance and zigzaging skills.
After PE, we reviewed all of the letters we have learned up until this point. We also practiced making our climbing slants on the board again.
During religion, we watched a video that gave us a quick glimpse of who Jesus is and why he is so important in our lives.
We ended our day with the all school Praise Assembly and had an absolute blast.
Reminder that our field trip is on October 4th. Please make sure all chaperones are virtus compliant in order to attend the field trip.
