Week 6- Sep. 16th-20th

 Monday September 16th

Today we started combining parts of our handwriting buddies together when talking about making a square.  We also started talking about the letter Ii and worked on making our word list.

During Religion, we read "Jesus as the Good Shepherd" from Stories of God's Love, which is the story of the one lost sheep from the Bible.  We briefly talked about how Jesus is a good shepherd and watches over all of us as if we are his sheep.

At the end of the day, we finally finished our first book in the Magic Treehouse series and the students were so proud of themselves.

Tuesday September 17th

For phonics and handwriting time, we reviewed the correct way to make a square and used our magic writing fingers to practice.  We also reviewed the letter Ii and talked about the sound it makes because it can be super tricky.

For Religion, we recalled the story from Monday and students worked together to make a list of people we can trust to take care of us, just like the shepherd took care of his sheep.

At the end of the day, we played educational games to practice taking turns and being kind to others.

Wednesday September 18th
We started our day off with all school mass.  I am so proud of how well all of the students behaved and we even got compliments from multiple teachers about how well we did.
After mass, we started talking about the letter Jj and making a word list.  During Religion, we made our own sheep to display in our classroom.

Thursday September 19th
During handwriting time, we practiced writing squares on the whiteboard and the students decided to add little hearts to the middle of their squares.

We also had a Disney dance party after phonics and some of the students used it as their opportunity to practice their crab imitations.

Friday September 20th
Today was a review day during phonics and handwriting.  We reviewed how to make our different handwriting buddies that we have learned and also had a chance to practice identifying a few letters that we have been struggling with.

Remember that permission slips for the field trip on October 4th were sent home on Friday the 20th and are due back on the 27th.
